Vision & Values

Our mission is Jesus’ mission.

In Luke 4, Jesus clearly stated his mission by quoting from the book of Isaiah, “The Lord God has put his Spirit in me, because the Lord has appointed me to tell the good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort those whose hearts are broken, to tell the captives they are free, and to tell the prisoners they are released.” – Isaiah 61:1

As followers of Jesus, we have the same mission. We are sent people with good news that Jesus is The Hope for each person and for the whole world. As we go, we want to always “Express our faith through Love”.

Our strategy is Jesus’ strategy.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

Christianity has always and will always grow most effectively one relationship at a time. Jesus intentionally focused on sharing his life with twelve disciples who were then entrusted to share it with others. Not a lot has changed in the past 2,000 years. Our strategy remains the same: to be intentional about making disciples by sharing how knowing Jesus has changed our lives.

In addition, we are proud to be a part of the Foursquare denomination, which from its inception has emphasized three priorities of discipleship that we share locally in Gettysburg: Proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus, plant churches and serve the poor.

The Heart of Foursquare

Extending Ourselves

The church exists to be an extension of God’s presence and love in the world – in other words, we do not exist for ourselves but for all those yet to have a relationship with Jesus. Therefore we happily place other’s interests and preferences before our own.

Encouraging Growth

We do not want to be stagnant in our lives or feel like we are running in place and getting nowhere but this is often the case when we attempt life on our own. The word “encourage” means to support, champion or advance and this is at the heart of our church family. We want each of us to advance in our lives and faith by the grace of Jesus Christ.

Empowering People

Jesus’ ability to accomplish the Father’s will on earth was a direct result of the Holy Spirit in His life. Consequently, when Jesus left this earth he promised the same Holy Spirit would fill our lives to empower us to continue His mission in the world. There are no benchwarmers or second-string players in Jesus’ church – every person has a vital role in His kingdom and thanks to the Holy Spirit we have been richly equipped to accomplish our mission.

Engaging Community

We believe that God is actively working in the renewal of the world through Jesus. As people who follow Christ, it is our responsibility and joy to join God in this renewal by loving and serving our neighbors – whether in our local community or halfway around the world.
